* TGIF...
The cats and I are back. Couldn't wait to see the water...and the house... and Toby!
This time we brought more provisions. There's coffee (of course) and CHOCOLATE! and I had to bring 'catfood' since we hope to stay through the weekend (so, if any of you out there turn up and want to eat real food, better bring it...) I've no problem with cooking up some good cajun red beans and rice or a batch of chicken gumbo... later. Now I just want to get the feel of the place.
I did bring some bread, PB& J, apples, and salad fixings - so we won't starve.
And as far as furnishings go, I found 2 old ladder back rockers to put on the screen porch with the hammock and the swing. Also brought up a box of old books, binoculars, camera, and my hand-written journal. What more could I need?
Maybe I'll go fishing in the morning (Oops! no fishing poles - will put them on the list for next time... and I'd better find out if there's a bait store around). My dad had a fishing camp on Grand Isle in Louisiana when I was young. I have great memories about that.
Toby was so glad to see us. He was all over the place. If you've ever seen an Irish Setter jump for joy, you'd know what I was talking about. They leap straight up in the air! Then he covered me with big wet doggy kisses. He'd have covered the cats too, but luckily he was smarter than that.
Thibbadeaux slinked in on his belly and found a hiding place while the girls roamed around making comments like; "big dumb dog...", "lick me and I'll scratch your eyes out", etc.
Toby's reaction to their comments was very sweet. He barked happily at their meowing as if to say, "I don't care! I don't care! I love all of you and I'm so-oo happy to see you!"
I've yet to tell him that Wendy is coming and bringing Kobe. Toby will be deliriously happy (don't know about the cats... but they'll adjust).
Our weekend is starting well.
