* weekend progress report

Sunrises are fantastic here...
Toby and I view them from a boulder by the water's edge.  The cats watch from the screen porch... which is fast becoming their favorite place.
Molly and Rose both vie for a window view while Teela and Thibs have commandeered the rockers (just thought of that old cliche' - confused as a long-haired cat in a room full of rocking chairs - might be that you have to have been from Louisiana to even recognize that one)

Since I've been over-endulging lately with pasta and pizza (and coconut Mocha fraps), a nice fresh salad and coffee topped Friday night off for me.

Later as I read my book and Toby lay by my feet, I overheard a cat commotion going on in the kitchen.

Molly and Thibbadeaux play a game where they circle each other with ears back and tails swishing to and fro... making gutteral noises.

(Molly circling Thibs)"Look at that dog, will you?  Laying at Mom's feet like that.  What a suck-up!"
(Thibs circling Molly) "Isn't the pot calling the kettle black? You would spend every waking moment in Mom's lap if she let you."
"Would not!"
"Would too!"
(Pounce Pounce!  Hiss Hiss!)
"Wus!"
"Suck-up!"

I finally had to say, "Cut it out you guys.  Come out here on the porch with me."

Saturday morning (after sunrise) Toby and I again walked on the beach.  Walking along the water's edge with a dog and a cup of fresh hot coffee on a chilly morning is... indescribable...  but it sure makes me happy.

I spent a little time cleaning up the place (a really little time), just some dusting and sweeping.  Most of the day was spent outside either with my binoculars, camera, or journal.

A few friends dropped by... some with their pets.  Toby loved it. Told them to make themselves at home. So, after visiting for a little while, we soon left each other to our own diversions.  This is what this place is for.

Did get to check out the area a bit.  There's a general store about 5 miles down the road by the harbor.  It carries a little of everything from canned goods to Pharmacy stuff... and I was told that there's always coffee in a thermos on the counter and occasionally baked goods for sale when the owner's wife has the notion.

Best part is that although it's walkable, I was told that it's easier to take a rowboat down through the cove - when the weather is good. (Definitely have to get a row-boat!).

And although cats and dogs are allowed in the store (I know this because a long haired grey lay about on the counter and a few customers came in with their dogs while I was there) - my cats would rather have the run of the house while I'm gone than come with me and Toby on a trek.

This may change though as time goes by.  The girls used to love going out - so they may again.  Now Thibs is another story.

Hmm-mm, I wonder how they'd do in a row-boat? Actually given half the chance, Molly would probably shove Rose overboard...

BTW, Toby barked at all of them (both inside the store and out) and they barked back.  So, I'm sure he gleaned more info than I did talking with the people. Now if he could just tell me what he learned...

I do know that I must go back to the Real World sometime today. But it's been fun.  And the great part about being at 'Bailey's Cove' is, whenever anyone wants or needs me in the RW, I can be back in a  blink of an eye (literally).
