* we fished...

This morning we fished - all of us - except Thibs.  But we didn't use the rowboat as planned (may take me a while to find the one I want).  So we fished from the beach.  You should
have seen us.  We looked like a little animal parade heading down to the water.  Toby and I trod out the door with our fishing gear as the cats laid about on the screen porch.  I held the door open and said anyone who wants to come - to come on!

Rose took off like a shot with Molly on her heels. Teela followed reluctantly like she was thinking, is this a trick?  And of courseThibs laid on one of the rockers not moving a muscle and looking at us like we were stark raving mad.

I walked, they followed.  Once down there I laid my stuff on a fallen log, grabbed my pole, baited my hook, and stepped out into the surf to try my luck.  Toby bounced around on the sand, sniffing this and that - occasionally barking at a seagull or chasing one of the cats.  Rose found a spot by a rock and stretched out for a nap.  Teela and Molly explored.  They haven't been outside in a while and had never been on sand.  Molly picked up each foot daintily and put it down with caution.

(Molly) "What is this stuff?"
(Teela) "It's sand, you ninny... beach sand."
(Molly) "... uh, like you know, Miss Priss.  You've never been here before."
(Teela) "No...but I have ears.  Mom talks about the beach and the sand all the time.  Well, this is it."
(Molly) "Kind of like a giant litter box!"
(Teela) "... only soft.  Our kitty litter is courser.  And I don't think Mom would like it if we used it as a litter box."
(Molly) "Yeh, she gets freaked when Rose uses her herb garden at home."

Let it surfice to say, that it was a lovely morning... for all of us.  And I hope to do it again as often as possible.

But it was a short trip as we had to be back home in time for DH and I to go to see "Four Feathers" at the movies in the afternoon.  We did and it was pretty good.  I don't usually like this type of movie (reminded me of Zulu)...  but this story was different (not history, not romantic in the sensual sense, but romantic in an idealistic sense).  Not sure why.  Liked the black slave's simple reason for protecting the Englishman - "God put you in my path..."

Back here at home we'll have fresh steamed broccoli with stuffed bell peppers filled with seasoned meat, rice, and pecans for supper tonight. DH made the stuffed peppers yesterday.  We had them last night too with fresh sweet corn.  I froze the rest.  When he cooks, he cooks a lot...

But it's very good.  I don't often eat any red meat, especially ground beef.  But will make occasional exceptions - like his stuffed peppers.

Well that about covers my Sunday.  Will watch Public Television tonight at 10, "As days go by..." and then call it a day.   Hope your weekend was a good one.
